Behind all the flashing lights and booming music, there is a company that has taken the musicians you love under their wing.   This company allows the artists to fully develop and express themselves musically.  We may not think about the impact that these companies have, but they are working day in and day out to ensure that the integrity of their artist’s music is preserved.

There is one such dedicated company right in your backyard.  Halogen Media Works, a Burlington based company, is a network of independent and major music companies offering services to independent and nationally known music artists.  In particular, Halogen specializes in the distribution, promotion, marketing, development, production of artists world-wide, and production of live music events in the USA.

Now, just because Halogen is has a larger reach than Vermont, does not mean that they have forgotten their roots.  Halogen had its humble beginning in a modest dorm room at Goddard College in Plainfield, VT.  CEO/President Justin Hoy founded Halogen in 1997 to help musicians on campus and in the local area to get their music heard and distributed nationally.  He worked with Josiah Friedberg to develop what would become Halogen Media Works.

In 2005 Halogen Records began promoting live events has not stopped in their efforts to build a live music brand in Vermont as well as developing tours throughout the USA.

 Halogen has worked with several of Vermont’s most loved musical talent including Myra Flynn, Erin McDermott, and Aaron Flinn.  Currently, Halogen has been working another group, Vermont based musical collective, Japhy Ryder.  The group is composed of musicians who live and work in the greater Burlington area.

Of the new partnership, Japhy Ryder said, “We are excited to build a strong relationship with a label that is interested in sharing Vermont’s rich and diverse musical community with the rest of the world.”

Japhy Ryder will release their anticipated upcoming album, “If the Haves are Willing,” through Halogen.

In addition to Japhy Ryder, the label has brought some regional artists into its talent pool including: New York based Haakon’s Fault, The Mumbles, and DJ G.I. Joe.  Halogen continues to develop up and coming talent including Mel Flannery Trucking Co. and Philly based Philadelphia Slick.  Some of the national talent connected to Halogen include: hip-hop groups BlackSheep, Akil the MC, and Quanstar to name a few.  Halogen works with artists throughout the country to bring a brilliant spectrum of musical styles and influences to the forefront.  Genres include: hip-hop, alternative, independent, jazz, soul, funk, and world music.
