On the one hand-  you do not want to re-invent the wheel- on the other hand- one size does not fit all.   So as you say  VT needs-  will vary from that of Nashville.  http://www.nashvillemusicians.org/?pg=do_not_work_for   I see alot of places on the do not work for page.  Interesting.  I am not a musician- so I don't know what your needs/concerns are.

There is one listed in the Burlington / Middlebury area phone book called Vermont Musicians Association Local 351.  Not familiar with them or what they are about.  Do they not address your concerns above?  Their phone number is 802.865.5122.

Had no idea about the Local 351, and it hadn't come up in discussion in the muscians forum.  Thanks for the info.  Regarding concerns etc, the AFM (of which Local 351 seems to be a chapter) is more focused on "industry" issues while it seems like most Vermont musicians are trying to figure out how to make any money at the local level ...but useful to know that this exists.

I feel the current way of requesting songs works best . I don't know if anyone ever has actually selected 150 requests a day but I feel it is not too many considering the wide selection of beautiful music on this station. I request what I either love hearing or new ones I would like to hear. If requested songs are played  so that not all of one persons songs are played  one after the other I see no reason to change anything. I could see a problem if someone actually requested 150 songs and those got played all at once and everyone else had to wait for theirs, however I don't see that happening here.I am not certain why a problem occured in the first place  that made someone want to change the current request policy. Could someone please explain exactly why they wanted it changed? Thanks

I have never found fault with the  amount of requests  or the order in which the requests are played . I am pretty patient and if I don't care for a song I mute the player and do something until it ends.I haven't heard many songs that I didn't like since I joined. I get to experience a lot of great music from other peoples requests and find most persons requesting have very good taste in their choices.I don't mind the break for the commercial that comes next either and even like most of the commercials.I feel this station has a job to do just like anyone else. Yes! There are a lot of requests from  a lot of us, but you wouldn't go to a crowded restuarant on a busy day or night and expect your food to be the next out of the kitchen just because you walked in the door, when there's a 30 minute waiting list?

It doesn't matter to me if I requested the songs or if someone else did as long as I can hear it and it is good.

      1.  end corporate personhood.

      2.  end the private Federal Reserve.

Unless we fix out monetary system, anything else is a mute point.

Machines, corporations,  non-humans must never trump human rights.  The rise of tickets by camera, robo calls- and the pathetic lack of being able to function when the computer is down- is our glimpse into the future.    For a long time- a champion chess player could beat big blue at chess-  but no more.   Factor in the May Fat finger flash crash.   The computer trumps the human. You retirement and towns bonds are subject to a flash crash.

Congress does not write or even read the legislation- and has to pass it to "find out what is in it".  So do you think YOUR letters are read?  No.

Investment bankers have clouded the presidential cabinet since Reagan.

Goldman Sachs,  JP Morgan-  they are the master- and you are the slave.

What can you do?   Stack silver.   Coins when we were kids were 90% silver.  Each coin you hold in your bare hands- TAKES from the banksters.

They can not fat finger that coin.

In the time you have read this- the investment banks have skims billions off of your countrymen... in just the few minutes you took to read this.

Take your future now-  take it by holding gold and silver coins in your hand.

Deny the fat finger- the chance to wipe out- your job, your house, your savings, and your retirement.

2003, was the last chance for the grid to turn back on this planned collapse.   It is now too late and must run its course.

Very Well Put. Both of you. I am in total agreement.

Re: ""Deny the fat finger- the chance to wipe out- your job, your house, your savings, and your retirement."

This is something worth thinking about how to do. How can you make yourself independent or at least cut down the degree of your dependence on the banking sector. One way is to cut down on the use of credit cards, atm cards, debit cards and etc. Another is to save more so as not to depend on loans from these institutions. Another is to learn more about how to invest your money yourself and as W.B. said, do not invest in anything you don't understand.

Much Respect DiB! Thanks for all you do for LIve Local Music & Culture. If more people fallow your lead we'll take art & culture back from the TV mongers and keep it alive right in our own neighborhoods...I would add Dubnotix to that list of artists deserving of attention....Rock On Bro!!!!
